Who I Am and How I Work
Are you like most of my clients?
They say that they are usually the sort of people who "prefer to see things on their own", and "don't like a rigid schedule" while they're on vacation.
Although they can afford to, they usually don't take tours in Paris (or Barcellona or Edinburgh or wherever else). And now some of them have come back to Italy three or four times. And taken tours. With me.
Why?
Because I give tours for people who want to see the real Rome that you can't get in a guidebook or on a "follow-the-flag" group tour. I want you to see backstreets and little-known wonders that wouldn't find on your own.....and I want you to have fun doing it.
Gasp. Yes! -- you are on vacation and sightseeing is supposed to be fun!
I have a background in art history and classics, and I've always worked in "people businesses". I need to share my excitement for all things Rome with you, and I'm grateful for the opportunity. I grew up in Ohio, and worked in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles, so I speak your language (if you speak english, that is!)
I want you to eat in a great trattoria where real Romans eat, and take incredible photos that will impress your friends. I want to help you find the special gift or pick the right restaurant for that special last night in Rome. I want your kids to laugh....and learn a little something about Italy in the process.
I'm a generalist, and like most of my clients, I love to read and travel. That means that we talk about everything as we walk -- not only ancient history, but current politics and Roman food and music and artists' biographies and fun trivia....
"Roma - non basta una vita" ("Rome: a lifetime isn't enough")
Whether you've never been to Rome before or it's one of your favorite places to return to, there is never enough time to do everything you want. It's important to get as much as you can from your short time here, and maybe you've begun to realize that I can help you do just that.
Please send me an email request with your schedule and what you're interested in and we will start working out an itinerary -- together -- that is perfect for you.
See you in Rome!
